Developing drone delivery for Greater Grand Rapids.
We are developing a practical aerial delivery concept for suburban communities, beginning with restaurant meals. Our vision is to improve convenience, shorten delivery journeys, and explore lower delivery costs through a locally grounded operation.
Grand Rapids Drone Delivery is in development. Commercial delivery service is not currently available. Future flight operations and commercial service are subject to required regulatory approvals, permissions, and operational readiness.
Greater Grand Rapids, Michigan / Initial planning focus: Byron Center
01
Our vision
A local approach to the last mile.
In suburban communities, a short distance on a map can still mean a lengthy journey by road. We are exploring whether aerial delivery can offer a practical alternative for moving prepared meals between local businesses and designated delivery points.
Our initial planning focuses on Byron Center within the Greater Grand Rapids area. The ambition is to bring aircraft, delivery software, and ground procedures together into one coordinated operation, with people responsible for readiness and oversight.
Reliability, safety, community compatibility, and viable delivery economics will guide development. Convenience and cost improvements remain goals to validate through testing and operating evidence, rather than established performance claims.
02
The delivery concept
The proposed operation connects a local hub, a restaurant pickup location, and a designated delivery point. Each delivery includes a return to the hub and preparation for the next mission.
Proposed operating concept.
01
Operations hub
An operator checks aircraft readiness and authorizes departure.
02
Restaurant pickup
Food is loaded at a designated pickup location before the delivery leg.
03
Designated delivery point
A planned lowering-and-release system places the package at the delivery point.
04
Return to hub
The aircraft returns for inspection and battery servicing.
Development begins with simulation and staged, controlled demonstrations. Broader service would follow only after the concept, operating procedures, and applicable requirements have been addressed.
03
Development progress
What exists today. What comes next.
Established to date
We have a hexacopter prototype with a 1407 mm wheelbase and a 14S battery. An initial software prototype covers ordering, kitchen coordination, dispatch, and simulated delivery tracking. Operating concepts and a development roadmap are also documented.
These are development assets. Their existence does not establish flight performance, delivery capability, or operational approval.
Current development focus
The focus is refining the complete delivery-and-return workflow: aircraft readiness checks, human approvals, payload handling, and failure recovery. The software and operating approach need to account for the full mission, including return, inspection, and readiness for reuse.
Planned milestones
Next stages include expanded simulation and flight-system integration, hardware and payload validation, and staged controlled demonstrations. A limited commercial pilot would be evaluated after applicable approvals and operational readiness requirements are satisfied.
The demonstrations are intended to establish how the aircraft, software, and ground procedures work together. Testing would examine pickup coordination, package handling, return procedures, and responses when conditions prevent a delivery. The resulting evidence would inform decisions about further development and the feasibility of an eventual commercial operation.
These milestones describe the intended development path. They are not completed achievements or a committed service-launch schedule.

Ownership
Jersey Zhang Owner
Jersey Zhang owns Grand Rapids Drone Delivery and Gangnam Kitchen. The venture brings a local business perspective to the development of drone delivery in the Greater Grand Rapids area.
Gangnam Kitchen is a planned early restaurant partner and a potential setting for developing the restaurant pickup workflow. This connection provides a practical use case for planning; the partnership and delivery operation remain in development.
